Surfs up

Posted in Photography by sanchovi on 04/08/2013

On a weekend away to Aireys Inlet, my friend Tommy lent me his L series 100-400mm lens to take some shots of them surfing. Everyone had a gnarly time and here are some of the results. If it’s your first time using the internet, you can click on any of the pictures for a larger version.

Three girls, three horses, a man and his dog, and some footprints in the sand.

Tommy’s dog dug a hole. Isn’t it funny how no matter where you are in the world, if you dig a hole too far you end up in China? I wonder what people in China say when they dig a big hole?

THE END.

It’s the middle of Winter and it was quite overcast but the lens was a dream to use even though it weighed a tonne! That being said, I could comfortably move to a beach somewhere and take photos of dudes ‘shredding’ all day while using top shelf equipment. I’d just have to build a tripod out of coconuts, lobsters or starfish or something. Be sure to let me know if you hear of any jobs going. I’m always on the lookout for a permanent vacation. YEW!

A little dodging. A little burning. A little text.

Do you need a hand?

Posted in Photography by sanchovi on 07/10/2012

Melbourne can seem overwhelming during the day, but after dark the crowds thin and shop fronts become illuminated to draw focus on subjects you would normally walk straight past.
.

Sometimes you need a hand. Most people have two of them. If you had four things would be twice as easy right? I mean it’s simple mathematics. Wrong. If you had four hands you would be labeled a freak and would have to live in a sewer somewhere with pizza loving turtles. So sometimes it’s nice to help people out so their life is easier and they don’t feel like freaks. Remember this commercial?

Here are some shots from the most recent roll of film I got developed from my Pentax K1000. I knew that the roll had been in there for a while but I was surprised when I received pictures from my trip to Canada over a year ago! The first few pictures are from a weekend trip to Kelowna (Canada) to watch Aussie rules. I’m pretty sure I watched more Aussie Rules in Canada than I had watched in my whole life previous to my trip.

The next few are from a bright sunny day in Melbourne at the end of Winter.

I grew up in a nice part of the world called the Sunshine Coast. I snapped this shot at Mooloolava on a recent trip back to see the folks.

On that short trip, I managed to escape with my friends down to Coffs Harbor. We hung out and walked dogs on beaches, did a tiny bit of 4WDing and watched the World Rally Championships. I’ll upload pics from the rally soon.

The last pic is my favourite. It’s my friend Kristy checking emails or Facebook or Twitter. Remember when phones just use to make phone calls?

Wait a minute

Flinders Street Station, Melbourne, Australia 2011

A few weeks ago, while everyone else was leaving work and in a hurry to get home, my friend Tay and I took a little photo walk around the Yarra. I hadn’t shot in a while and it was good to get out and about.

More photos from our walk to come. Stay tuned.

Lighten up

Melbourne is a very photogenic city. All you need is a tripod and 15 seconds of your time.

Australia played Mexico in the hockey a few weeks ago. I sat in front of two rows of fanatical Mexico supporters that yelled “HUEVOS!” a lot. I’m still not sure what eggs have to do with ice hockey.
