That’s a wrap

I was lucky enough to be able to pop my head in and catch a little of the Winter Olympics closing ceremony. The skies were blue and the sun was shining above BC Place.

The cast got ready.

The audience took their seats and put on their ponchos.

Blah blah blah. Bring on the entertainment already!

The flame made an appearance.

So did the rings.

Apparently Canadians aren’t as patriotic as Americans.

Bill made an appearance.

So did Mike.

It was a pretty amazing show. The best thing was that I went back to work before Nickelback had an opportunity to pollute my ears with their ‘music’.
Now that the Olympics are over I’m unemployed which means I’ll probably be eating less but blogging more.

Two four letter words

This photo was taken outside a tent city that was protesting against the Olympics in Vancouver. I guess not everyone loves the freestyle moguls as much as I do.

Canada vs USA

One of the perks of working at the Vancouver Winter Olympics is that you might get to catch some events. I poked my head in at the highly anticipated Canada vs USA hockey match. I was expecting the crowd to be a bit more crazy but I guess there is nothing to cheer about when your team is losing. The teams meet up again in the gold medal game so let’s hope the result is better next time around!

Smoke ’em if you got ’em

I went and visited the Olympic cauldron the other day. It really does look like 4 joints leaning against each other which doesn’t surprise me when it’s not uncommon to walk through clouds of pot smoke in this city. The wise move of getting there at 8am paid off as there were hardly any people there and you could get a clear shot of the flame. By clear I mean no people. You still have to deal with the cyclone fencing that keeps you 20 meters back and protects the flame from anyone who might want to damage it. It was raining on the day I went (surprise surprise) which gives the flames a nice dark background to bounce off. Plus I got creative with some rain drops.

When there is a hockey game on all fashion rules get thrown out of the window. I love it.

The boss thinks I’m working

Here are a few shots I’ve taken while at my glamorous, well paying job at the Winter Olympics in Vancouver.

Downtown Vancouver 2010

This is one of my favourite photos of late. I’ve been playing around with long exposures and having the flash drop on the second curtain. I dig the composition too. No cropping or editing. This one is going straight to the pool room.
